Javier Milei bans ‘Marxist’ gender-neutral language in government documents

Javier Milei, Argentina’s president, has banned the use of “Marxist” gender-neutral language in government documents.

The prohibition targets all “inclusive language and everything related to the gender perspective throughout the national public administration”, said Manuel Adorni, the president’s spokesman at a press conference on Wednesday.

The ban is a reversal of the measures introduced by the previous leftist presidents Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Alberto Fernández – whose adult son recently changed his official gender to non-binary.

Dismissing the uproar over the new rules, Mr Adorni added: “It’s a debate in which we’re not going to participate because we consider that gender perspectives have been used as a political business.”
