Hurricane Hilary has smashed into Mexico and left parts of the country “completely underwater” as devastating torrential floods destroy entire towns.
Several evacuation warnings have been issued in California ahead of the hurricane’s landfall, with the National Hurricane Center forecasting “catastrophic and life-threatening flooding” from a year’s worth of rain from the freak weather.
The horrifying storm has been barreling over the Pacific Ocean and by Saturday afternoon, winds had surged to 110mph, although these have since weakened slightly since then.
Some areas of Southern California and Southern Nevada are set to be drowned in up to 10 inches (25cm) of rain but Hurricane Hilary has already made landfall in Baja California – with devastating consequences.
